Restorative and Preventative Therapy
At Certified Lymphatics, we offer manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) provided by a licensed Physical Therapist who is also Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT). Discover the benefits of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) therapy, originally developed by Emil Vodder in 1936, MLD is a gentle treatment which supports your body's natural lymphatic function.
This gentle technique employs light-pressure rhythmic strokes to promote lymph fluid movement
helping to eliminate toxins and enhance your immune system. MLD stimulates the contractions of lymphatic vessels to facilitate movement of fluid. Ideal to reduce fluid retention, reduce inflammation, support metabolic recovery, improve immune support, post-surgical recovery, general relaxation, tissue detoxification, and muscle recovery. Ideal for conditions such as fibromyalgia, lipedema, chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraines, stress, poor sleep and various autoimmune disorders. MLD may reduce subclinical swelling and improve circulation following exercise and/or a sporting activity. Preventive MLD may support tissue healing and mobility. MLD can be a valuable addition to your wellness journey.

How MLD assists with Muscle Recovery
* Reduces post-exercise inflammation: exercise may cause microtrauma which may trigger inflammation and fluid buildup. MLD gently moves interstitial fluid which may assist to reduce swelling and inflammation.
* Accelerates removal of metabolic waste: MLD stimulates lymph flow, which may help clear lactic acid and cytokines from overused muscles
* Decreases delayed onset of muscle soreness (DOMS): you may experience less soreness after MLD
* Improved circulation and tissue oxygenation: MLD may enhance superficial circulation promoting healing
* Promotes parasympatheic activation: you may experience generalized relaxation, reduced stress hormones and overall nervous system recovery

MAY BE BENEFICIAL FOR:
- Athletes
- The "weekend warrior"
- Post-sporting events
- Chronic soreness
- Individuals with slow recovery

MLD is not a deep tissue technique (will not break-up muscle adhesion), it is most effective when done 24-72 hours post-exercise (when inflammation is present), and works best when combined with hydration and stretching.

MLD benefits may vary from person to person, as each individual's lymphatic system and overall health are unique. We cannot guarantee that you will experience the benefits listed. MLD is not a replacement for medical treatment of an injury.
