MEDICARE PATIENTS:
Please read below regarding being able to receive care from Certified Lymphatics:

Certified Lymphatics is NOT enrolled with Medicare. Therefore, we CANNOT see you for "skilled therapy"but we CAN see you for Restorative/Preventative treatments. Since we are not enrolled with Medicare, we cannot bill Medicare and we cannot legally accept cash for these services.
What is "skilled therapy":
Skilled therapy is therapy that requires the knowledge, clinical judgment, and expertise of a licensed therapist to be performed safely and effectively. Treatment will provide measurable improvements of physical and/or functional deficits.
For outpatient physical therapy, some examples of skilled therapy include:
-
Performing a comprehensive evaluation and establishing a treatment plan.
-
Regularly assessing the patient's progress and modifying the treatment plan based on clinical findings.
-
Providing gait training for a patient recovering from a stroke, fracture, or joint replacement.
-
Neuromuscular reeducation to improve balance, coordination, or movement patterns.
-
Manual therapy techniques when they require professional skill (IE: Complete Decongestive Therapy to decrease swelling due to lymphedema)
-
Therapeutic exercises that require ongoing clinical assessment and progression because of the patient's medical condition.
-
Training a patient in the safe use of assistive devices or prosthetics.
-
Educating the patient or caregiver when specialized instruction is needed due to the patient's condition.
What is Restorative/Preventative treatments?
Certified Lymphatics offers Restorative/Preventative treatments for general wellness benefits and/or for maintenance care. Medicare and most insurance do not pay for maintenance care if it is a treatment a family member or a caregiver can be trained to provide. Manual Lymphatic Drainage can provide many health benefits (refer to the Restore/Prevent page) but is also a beneficial maintenance treatment for those who have lymphedema. Manual Lymphatic Drainage may help maintain swelling reduction and prevent flare-ups. If swelling reduction is still possible for someone who has lymphedema (and they have measurable swelling), treatment is a skilled therapy.

Other examples of general wellness treatments may include:
-
General fitness or wellness exercise.
-
Routine stretching or strengthening that no longer requires therapist supervision.
-
Exercise classes.
-
Maintenance exercise that the patient can perform independently without ongoing clinical assessment.
